The European Commission implements harmonized standards for medical technological innovations to combat corona (Covid-19). These new standards simplify and accelerate the assessment process required to use and make available materials and equipment such as mouth masks, protective suits and sterilization machines to healthcare facilities and to the patient in a safe and responsible manner.
Once the new standards are implemented, manufacturers and developers of medical devices can more easily comply with the health and safety requirements of EU law. Having equal European standards reduces costs, promotes innovation and ensures that devices and services are coordinated. It also gives innovations direct access to the European market.

Home care for the elderly or care for people with a chronic illness or disability is under stress due to the coronavirus (Covid-19). Care organizations therefore quickly need more technological options to be able to provide care remotely.
The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports is therefore expanding the Incentive Scheme for the e-Health Home (SET) with a special corona desk. This gives e-Health initiatives accelerated access to possible subsidies. The corona desk opens at 9:00 am on March 25, 2020; applications will receive a response within five days.
Providers who provide care or support to clients living at home or the clients’ caregivers can submit an application. Providers of care or support aimed at returning home are also eligible for a fixed subsidy of € 50,000. Read more here.
