1Minuut has been selected by Medical Delta as the winner of the regional qualification round for the Care Innovation Award ('Zorginnovatieprijs') 2022. The Rotterdam-based company developed a digital platform ('Genzõ') for communication with so-called 'Smart Glasses'. These glasses allow care workers to use a camera to make contact with a colleague, a specialist nurse or doctor, and to watch and assist remotely.
The announcement took place on 10 February, during the Rotterdam Health010 Breakfast. One of the reasons why 1Minuut won the preliminary round was that the innovation can be of great value to both the patient and the healthcare provider. It is valuable for both parties that an expert can look over their shoulders. In addition, healthcare providers can work more efficiently because they can be in many places in one day.
"Winning the regional qualifying round is a great recognition and encouragement to keep working for sustainable employability of caregivers within nursing and care," says Martijn de Groot, founder of 1Minute. "We want care providers to be able to work healthier for longer, so that everyone can continue to receive the care they deserve. The fact that we have been chosen as the regional winner is a tremendous boost and shows that we are on the right track with our innovation."
The pressure on health personnel in the Netherlands is high and is expected to further increase in the coming years. A structural change is needed to keep the healthcare sector staffed.
1Minuut developed a digital platform for communication with Smart Glasses, called Genzõ. Through smart glasses, healthcare providers can chat, share information and make video calls with colleagues and experts. This ensures that expertise is always within reach for everyone. 1Minuut wants to increase the productivity of care teams and the labour potential of the individual.
In recent years, 1Minuut has conducted pilots to see in what situations Smart Glasses can offer a solution. Nurses have tested the smart glasses with colleagues, family and carers. The pilot showed, among other things, that the 1Minuut innovation helps care providers to supervise and train their colleagues and that the quality of care is better. Moreover, absenteeism is lower, as is travel time for physical visits and training time. In this way, 1Minuut wants to ensure that healthcare providers can provide more and more complex care, without increasing their workload.
For the National Care Innovation Prize ('Zorginnovatieprijs'), Health~Holland searches for the best healthcare innovation in the Netherlands every year. Innovations that improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare and which have been successfully tested and implemented by end users stand a chance of winning a prize and professional guidance in the further development of their innovation.
Innovative companies in the upscaling phase have a chance of winning the jury prize (€ 10,000) and the public prize (€ 5,000). As in previous years, Medical Delta held the preliminary round for the South Holland region. Previous winners of the regional round included Wolk, which also won the national audience award, and Cue2Walk.
