Green light for second phase Vital Delta

Thursday, December 2, 2021

Taskforce for Applied Research SIA has extended the so-called SPRONG grant for the scientific program 'Vital Delta: Medical Delta's Journey towards vitality and health' by four years. The SPRONG groups Vitality and Health have been working since February 2018. The SPRONG program committee is enthusiastic about the results achieved by the four different groups, including Vital Delta.

The research groups have demonstrated, among other things, that they have expanded their formation with PhD students and teacher-researchers. Strong research groups have been set up and the SPRONG groups show potential for further growth and quality, according to the committee. Therefore, the committee gives the green light for the continuation of the trajectories until 2026.

SPRONG

SPRONG stimulates cooperation between research groups from different universities of applied sciences which have the potential to develop into powerful SPRONG groups within eight years. A SPRONG group consists of a cooperation between (at least) two universities of applied sciences and partners in practice, such as companies from professional practice (for example, SMEs), public institutions and governments. Strong SPRONG groups have a broad impact on the quality of the research of the universities of applied sciences involved.

Vital Delta is a consortium of four universities of applied sciences (Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, Leiden University of Applied Sciences, The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Inholland University of Applied Sciences) and is a program of Medical Delta. Together with a large number of partners, the consortium is committed to vitality and health (physical, mental and social) for young and old. Vital Delta does this in an eight-year research program (2018-2026) financed by SIA, together with students, teachers, citizens, clients, care professionals and care employers. The research delivers results and products that contribute to strengthening resilience and self-management and to creating a healthy environment in the Delta region of Leiden, The Hague and Rotterdam.
