Marit van Dijk started this month as junior Innovation Manager at Medical Delta, the partnership of five South Holland academic institutions and four colleges. Van Dijk combines this position with her current position as a PhD student in biomechanical engineering at TU Delft.
"For years I have been fascinated by the world of healthcare technology and innovation. I started studying artificial intelligence because I was so impressed with healthcare robots that I wanted to know how this worked," says Van Dijk. "I have a passion for people, technology and health. At Medical Delta, this all comes together."
"Her current position as a PhD student in biomechanical engineering, combined with her background in artificial intelligence and movement sciences, means that Marit has a versatile profile cutting across many Medical Delta topics," says David de Glint, managing director of Medical Delta. "This makes Marit a fresh, inquisitive and valuable addition to the current team."
In addition to her PhD program, Van Dijk also has experience in the later stages of the innovation process. She worked for several years at innovation center InnoSportLab de Tongelreep, where she helped with the development and valorization of products related to swimming (top) sport. "Here I found out that I really liked the work, but missed the direct relevance and wanted to contribute to society in a different way." In healthcare, she did find that relevance. "I am therefore looking forward immensely to applying my experience in healthcare. With my interdisciplinary outlook, I hope to be the connecting factor between and within the various disciplines."
