New phase in the Healthy Society Program

Wednesday, October 16, 2024

During the Festical Gezond Verstand on October 14, the Healthy Society Program was officially launched. The program is an initiative of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus (LDE) Universities, Medical Delta, and the province of South Holland, and focuses on improving health and well-being in South Holland.

The Healthy Society Program brings together knowledge institutions, the healthcare sector, and governments to tackle the major health challenges of the province. The focus is on promoting accessible and affordable care, and supporting residents in staying healthy longer and maintaining control over their own health. This is done in collaboration with residents, knowledge institutions, healthcare organizations, municipalities, and other social partners in South Holland.

Concrete solutions for regional health problems

The Healthy Society Program contributes to concrete solutions for regional health problems, such as reducing health disparities and strengthening preventive care. The collaborating partners of the Healthy Society Program are working towards a healthier, more resilient society, in which residents have the right resources and knowledge to actively improve their health.

During the closing segment of the Common Sense Festival, the launch was introduced with vlogs from the Healthy Society theme leaders in practical situations.

New phase

The Healthy Society Program has identified six themes through strategy sessions and working groups. Each of these themes is driven by theme leaders. The program is overseen by an executive board and a program manager yet to be appointed. Within the program as a whole, projects are initiated to promote the health of residents in South Holland. One example is the platform gezondzuidholland.nl, which serves as a bridge between policy and research. This website is the first to combine health and the design of the living environment on a local and regional scale, and it also connects a local network of professionals through geographic maps.

With the official launch of the Healthy Society Program, the collaboration is entering a new phase, including the funding of projects.
