Huisartsen van Nederland and Momo Medical have been declared the winners of the National Healthcare Innovation Award 2023. Momo Medical won the Zuid-Holland preliminary round organized by Medical Delta last month. Thanks to the most votes, the public prize worth €5,000 was now won.
The National Healthcare Innovation Award gives the most innovative companies the opportunity to make themselves visible in the Dutch healthcare innovation landscape.
Huisartsen van Nederland offers an efficient patient flow management system via smart triage software, with which triage and practice processes can be optimized. This increases the accessibility and quality of care for the patient, while reducing workload and increasing the capacity of the practice.
Charlotte van Sassen, general practitioner and founder of Huisartsen van Nederland, convinced the jury of her innovative solution. Jury chairman Heleen van Nispen: “The triage system of the General Practitioners of the Netherlands leads to a replacement and acceleration of part of the primary care activities. At the same time, it cherishes and combines personal contact.” In terms of set-up and method, the innovation is scalable to other sectors. It can also mean that accessibility to care can be guaranteed.
The Momo Bedsense App from Momo Medical gives care employees insight into the residents in a nursing home, such as who is restless or which resident has gotten out of bed. The app is linked to a bed sensor that is located under the mattress. The app gives care providers an overview of all residents at a glance and allows them to act in a targeted manner. The predictive and live insights reduce the workload and help with person-centred care. This results in fewer falls and a better night's sleep for residents.
The Momo BedSense App won the public award. With 43% of the vote, Momo Medical was clearly the favorite among the public. SARA Robotics and the BiB chair followed with 17% and 9% of the vote respectively.
The teams behind Huisartsen van Nederland and Momo Medical were overwhelmed by the win. Johannes Schouten, director of Huisartsen van Nederland, indicated that he already had plans for the amount won: “We have many ideas in which we can invest this. In this way, we can also bring together several primary care institutions outside general practitioner care on our platform.”
Menno Gravemaker, founder of Momo Medical, says that he wants to spend their profit on healthcare employees: “We have many nurses and carers who can make this possible together with us. we would like to put them in the spotlight with this.”
