PhD candidate wants to gain knowledge on familial cardiac arrhythmias at Harvard

PhD candidate Leonoor Wijdeveld is raising funds for a six-month work visit to Harvard University. The acquired knowledge will benefit research into familial atrial fibrillation, for which a clinic recently opened at Erasmus MC.

Andrew Webb elected as a member of the KNAW

Medical Delta professor Andrew Webb is one of the eighteen new members of the KNAW. The approximately 600 members of the KNAW are prominent scientists from all disciplines. Membership is for life. The new Academy members will be installed on Monday, October 30th.

Medical Delta PhD candidate Martijn Nagtegaal has graduated with honors. His thesis provides technical and clinical solutions for MR Fingerprinting, a technique to quickly quantify different tissue types and their water interactions using a single MRI scan.

At Erasmus MC, a new outpatient clinic recently opened for patients with familial atrial fibrillation. An interdisciplinary team researches the possible hereditary factors and causes associated with this heart rhythm disorder. Suzanne (63) and Louwrens (68) Boomsma are brother and sister and are participating in the research.
